Civil Code

Article 370. A married woman may use: (Suppose Jane Dough marries John Doe)

  1. Her maiden first name and surname and her husband’s surname. (Ex. Jane Dough-Doe)
  2. Her maiden first name and her husband’s surname. (Jane Doe)
  3. Her Husband’s Full name,  but prefixing a word indicating that she is the wife, such as “Mrs.” (Mrs. John Doe)

The abbreviation “Mrs.” means “Mistress”. Thus, a woman who uses the prefix Mrs. together with her first name and surname[her husband’s surname] (Ex. Mrs. Jane Doe) would be illegal and ungrammatical.
